What is an "Anomaly"

Anomalies are official Ingress events held by Niantic all over the world.

At an anomaly, players from both teams meet up in a city and battle to score points and, at the end, the event is awarded to the team with the most points.

The event usually goes on for a few hours, and is followed by an after-party where the result is announced. The Resistance are famous for having the best cake!

Anomalies are normally run as part of a series with the teams battling to win the series. Occasionally Niantic do run special event or "burst" anomalies to coincide with other events. These are usually shorter, one-off events.

There are no official anomaly events planned in the UK at the moment, but we tend to get at least one event each quarter.
